Aspin says Vale are fighting for future ahead of vital Easter fixtures
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says that his players are fighting hard ahead of the vital Easter fixtures.
Vale are still not clear of trouble but will be boosted by a vital away point at promotion chasing Wycombe over the weekend.
It was always going to be massive, there is no question about that. We can’t say anything else. They are vital…
The Valiants now face fellow strugglers Chesterfield and Crewe over the Easter period with both games effectively being six pointers.
Aspin told the media: “It was always going to be massive, there is no question about that. We can’t say anything else. They are vital.
“The players have now played against Exeter and Wycombe, two teams who are doing well, and I think we have more than matched them both. I think they have to take that into the remaining games.
“We know every game is a battle and a scrap. I fully understand that players deserve to be criticised if they don’t put in an effort, but I think regardless of anything else, at least the supporters saw a team that was fighting to stay in the league.”
