Coventry City made unsuccessful cash bid for Tom Pope
Port Vale striker Tom Pope has told the Sentinel newspaper that League Two rivals Coventry City made a bid for him in the transfer window.
The veteran striker is Vale’s top scorer this season and claims he was told by owner Norman Smurthwaite that Coventry made a £25,000 bid for his services.
Pope commented that: “Norman texted me a couple of weeks ago to tell me he’d had the offer but had turned it down.
“I didn’t give it a second thought. I am very happy at the Vale and want to get on with helping us make sure we stay in the Football League.”
