Neil Aspin issues rallying cry to players: show bottle, willingness and desire
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has challenged his players to show “desire” ahead of Vale’s trip to Swindon Town.
The Valiants are still reeling after a poor 5-1 loss to Cheltenham Town and the Vale manager is naturally keen for the players to rally.
They’ve got to show bottle, willingness, and desire, and they’ve got to get this club higher up in the table…
Aspin told the media: “The players have got to roll their sleeves up and do their jobs on the pitch. It’s down to the players. They’ve got a responsibility and there’s a lot at stake.
“They’ve got to show bottle, willingness, and desire, and they’ve got to get this club higher up in the table.”
Vale have yet to secure three points this year and Aspin added: “There’s a lot of negativity about the place, and I understand that. Until we start winning games, that’s the only way we’re going to change that.
“Certainly once we get a good performance and three points, it’ll give the players belief, it’ll give the supporters belief.
“Hopefully we can all pull together to get us to the necessary points we need.”
Vale sit in 19th place, seven points above the relegation zone and are desperate not to be drawn into a relegation fight. A chance to address the slump in midweek was foiled when the game against Exeter City was postponed.
With Swindon on the hunt for promotion this is set up to be a tough game. According to www.tipsfix.com, Swindon go into the game as favourites at 10/11 with Port Vale, having not won it six available at 3/1 to win.
