Neil Aspin says his faith in “frustrated” Forrester was justified
Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says two goals in a week shows what can happen when you “show a little bit of faith” in a player.
Forrester has had an injury ravaged spell with the club but bounced back this week with a goal against Crewe in the Checkatrade plus the equaliser against Newport on Friday.
I think he has needed someone to show a little bit of faith in him as well, and I certainly knew he had ability…
Aspin told the media: “I think Anton was very frustrated when he came to the club. He was frustrated because of all the injuries he has had. I think he has needed someone to show a little bit of faith in him as well, and I certainly knew he had ability.
“We have tried to ease him back but, because he has had injuries, I think there have always been doubts in his head in case the injuries reoccur.
“So, I think once he plays more games, he will feel more confident that he can last the 90 minutes. But he has done very well this week. It was a vital goal he got.”
