Aspin: League is the priority but cup success can boost confidence
Manager Neil Aspin says that the club’s ultimate priority is survival in League Two but continuing their winning ways in the cup competitions can help.
Vale have made progress in both the FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy under Aspin and face Yeovil Town in the FA Cup second round on Saturday.

Aspin told the official Port Vale website: “The league is our most important competition.
“The cup games are important, but I hope that success in the cup can reignite us back in the league. It can only boost our confidence if get some good results.
“I’m not kidding anybody at the moment, but the second-half against Mansfield and the performance at Lincoln simply wasn’t good enough.
“We were never in the game during the second-half, the goals we conceded were disappointing.
“You can blame luck at times but we must be better.”
