Match report: Yeovil 1-1 Port Vale
Talisman Tom Pope scored his seventieth goal for the club but it was not enough as a goalkeeping error allowed Yeovil a share of the points.
Caretakers David Kelly and Chris Morgan brought in James Gibbons for his full debut and reverted to three at the back.
Keeper Kelle Roos was forced into an early save but Vale then took charge and good work from Gibbons set up Worrall who somehow contrived to miss the target. However, on 30 minutes, Tom Pope made no mistake as he scored his first of the season from Tyler Denton’s good cross. It was the striker’s seventieth senior goal for the club.
The home side pressed more in the second period but without any clear-cut chances as Vale’s defence remained in command despite an injury to Tyler Denton. However, that changed moments after the Valiants took off Dan Turner as Roos failed to collect the ball and Otis Khan equalised on 66 minutes.
There was controversy with ten minutes to go as James Gibbons received his second yellow card and was dismissed. It was rough justice for the youngster who had largely impressed on his debut.
