As we suggested earlier this month on OVF, former Port Vale winger Sam Kelly has joined League Two rivals Grimsby Town.
Kelly was released earlier this month following a two-year spell with the Valiants. The former Norwich and Everton man made 57 appearances for Vale although the majority were from the bench as he failed to nail down a regular starting spot.
Influential Grimsby blog Cod Almighty claimed that Kelly could be linking up with Town and it has now been confirmed that he has signed a two-year deal.
“Russell has been a manager at some great clubs and is a big name in football,” Kelly told Grimsby’s website.
“When I got the original call from my agent, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with him.”
