Port Vale coach Andy Smith praised the Port Vale team after their penalty shootout win over Doncaster Rovers in the Football League Trophy.
Vale won the game after a penalty shootout win but results elsewhere meant Vale were knocked out of the tournament.
Smith told the media: “I thought the boys played well. We looked comfortable on the ball and created some half-decent chances but not as much as we would have liked, but we passed the ball about really well and had a nice bit of tempo to our play.
“So, the boys put a good shift in but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
“They did well here, had some good movement. We had players coming in who hadn’t played many games and they put a good shift in.”
