Smith pleased with how Vale finished game against Charlton
Port Vale coach Andy Smith says he will “take the point” after the Valiants forced a late equaliser against Charlton on Tuesday.
Smith told the media: “I am disappointed because I thought we could have got the three points today but the way we finished the game pleases me and I will take that point.
But the lads dug in near the end and could have won it so there was good character there…
“They are a good team and play to their strengths. They have a big fella up front and just launched the ball up and have a good little winger, that’s basically it, playing off him and trying to do the counter attack. They were pretty good. But the lads dug in near the end and could have won it so there was good character there.
“They tried, you could see it there and right at the end everyone was digging in for each other, so I was very pleased with that. You could see at the end we were pushing and pushing because we wanted the three points.”
