Match report: Bolton 3-1 Port Vale
Loanee Sam Hart scored his first goal for the club but it was not enough as early Bolton goals saw them secure a comfortable home win.
Manager Bruno Ribeiro brought in Sam Kelly and Kjell Knops for the injured Sam Foley and Calvin Mac-Intosch who dropped to the bench.
However, Vale got off to a nightmare start as the hosts raced into a three goal lead after just fifteen minutes.
Dangerman Zach Clough got the first after six minutes, Josh Zela scored the second after eleven minutes and Lawrie Wilson scored the third on the quarter-hour mark.
The hosts were emphatically on top in the first-half and those goals left Vale with a mountain to climb in the second-half.
The Valiants did better in the second-half and went close through Sam Kelly before Hart scored from a Ryan Taylor corner on 75 minutes. Another goal for the visitors could have made things interesting and Streete did go close late on.
But ultimately, the damage had been done in the opening period and Vale had much to ponder after another poor opening half and poor away result.
