Smith wants more consistency from Vale

Coach Andy Smith says Vale need to play at the same level “week in week out” after a game of contrasting halves at the Memorial Stadium.

Vale failed to build on an excellent first-half and put on a sloppy second-half show as they let a one goal lead slip to lose 2-1 on Saturday.

If you don’t take your chances you are going to get punished…

Smith told the media: “We are going to keep going, keep probing away and doing our thing and go out there and put on a good performance. That’s what we try to do week in week out, you can see especially in the first half that it was there, then for some reason or another the tempo just wasn’t there in the second half.

“If you don’t take your chances you are going to get punished, so I don’t have any complaints, but we will be knocking on that door again.

“It’s the way we play and I just can’t wait for this next game because I am a bit disappointed about that second half. I know that’s not us and the supporters deserved better than that.”
