85% of Port Vale fans won’t attend Trophy game against Derby County B side
A poll on the OVF website has revealed that 85% of fans who voted will not attend Port Vale’s Football League Trophy game against a Derby County B side.
The introduction of B sides into the Football League Trophy competition has been hugely controversial and many fans have said they will boycott the games.
It seems that Port Vale are no different as our poll results show. Our vote reveals that many fans will not attend this season’s competition which will pitch Port Vale against a B-side (in this case Derby County) in a competitive fixture.
One slight consolation for Vale fans is that chairman Norman Smurthwaite did vote against the introduction of B side albeit to no avail as a majority of Football League chairmen approved the decision.
OVF is firmly opposed to the introduction of B sides and you can read our editorial slamming the decision through this link
Vote results:
15% will attend all Football League Trophy games
21% will only attend Football League Trophy games against League sides
64% will not attend any Football League Trophy games
Note: OVF ran two separate votes (one on this website and another on Twitter). The question and answers were identical and these results are combined from both votes.
