Page pays credit to Scunthorpe after disappointing loss
Rob Page paid credit to a Scunthorpe side “on a fantastic run” but added he was “disappointed” that the Valiants could not snatch a draw.
Vale lost 1-0 on Saturday – a result that ended their chances of a late play-off push.
They are on a fantastic run at the moment, but there was nothing in the game, it could have been a draw…
Page told the media: “I thought it was two teams having a go with not much between them. It was our throw in the corner that led to the goal which is disappointing.
“I said to them we had to defend the box and we did in numbers and I thought in the first half we were first to everything.
“Then we went out in the second half and one ball in the box early on and we get done at the back post with a header.
“So I am disappointed they scored the goal in the manner in which they did, but we threw everything at them in the last 10 to 15 minutes.
“They had to put a centre half on to sit in the middle of the park as well to soak up the pressure. Credit to them, it worked for them.
“They are on a fantastic run at the moment, but there was nothing in the game, it could have been a draw.
