The Sentinel claims that Port Vale are set to agree a long-term loan deal with Watford for striker Uche Izpeazu.
Ikpeazu is well-known to Vale fans after a successful loan spell with Crewe and according to the Sentinel, the forward was at Vale’s friendly with Newcastle Town.
Rob Page told the newspaper: “I think it’s a fantastic addition. We just have to cross the ‘t’s’ and dot the ‘i’s on it but we are there with it. It is a done deal and we have got him on a long term loan which is fantastic for us and fantastic for him.
“I have always been a fan of us. I think he showed when he played against us for Crewe that he was a handful and I think we are just a little bit short of that presence up top.”
Ironically, the signing should make for an interesting first fixture of the season. Vale’s squad already contains numerous former Crewe players and Ukpeazu’s signing would make it another to face his former club.
