Former Port Vale loanee arrested – reports
The Worcester News newspaper is reporting that former Vale loanee Chris Cornes has been arrested and charged over an alleged “£40,000 drug haul.”
According to the newspaper, Cornes has been charged with possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and money laundering and was remanded in custody.
The arrest came after £40,000 of cocaine and a substantial amount of cash was found in the back of a car in Worcester.
The attacking player enjoyed a successful loan spell with Vale in 2005 when he scored four times in just ten appearances.
However, in February 2006, Cornes tested positive for banned substances and was handed a six-month ban from the game. His parent club Wolves stood by him but by September 2006 his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
He has since played for a host of non-league clubs in the Midlands including Redditch Utd and Stourport Swifts.
