Agony for Vale’s Andoh as Ghana lose out on penalties
Enoch Andoh’s Ghana U23 side have lost their 2016 Olympic Games qualifier after a penalty shootout in Brazzaville.
Andoh, who was played as a striker, scored the winner in the first-leg as Ghana defeated DR Congo 1-0 but his side lost the second-leg 1-0. With the scores all-square, Ghana U23 crashed out after losing a penalty shootout 5-4.
Ghana’s U23 side conceivably stood a chance of reaching the 2016 Olympic games in Rio but those hopes are now over. Congo will now play Nigeria in the next round.
One bright spot for Vale is that Andoh will now be able to return to pre-season training and with the U23 experience behind him, it may be possible for him to force his way into the first-team reckoning.
