Time at club: 1923-1931
Appearances: 173
Goals: 10
Comments:
The locally-born defender was originally on the books of Stoke City but he was released due to a cartilage injury.
However, Maddock showed remarkable desire to play the game and raised the money to have treatment to cure his problems and resume his football career.
He joined Vale in 1923 after a spell with Macclesfield Town and he was a member of the 1930-31 promotion squad.
He was transferred to Crewe in 1931 as he became one of a select number of players to appear for Stoke, Vale and the Alex.
