Why is Vale winger a Wycombe cult hero?
Port Vale fans may not know this, but new signing Colin Daniel has hundreds of admirers… in South Buckinghamshire!
The reason for the adulation is simple. Daniel lined up for Mansfield in their final day clash against Bristol Rovers and the winger scored the winner in 1-0 victory.
That loss condemned Bristol Rovers to a place in the Conference Premier and allowed Wycombe Wanderers to stay in the Football League.
We definitely won’t forget the massive favour he did for us on the final day of the 2013/14 campaign…
Paul Lewis of the independent Wycombe website Chairboys on the net told OVF that Daniel has become something of a cult figure at Adams Park as a result.
He commented: “I suspect we will give Mansfield a very warm welcome when they visit Adams Park next season. If Colin had still been a Mansfield player he would have been singled out for special praise.
“I sure at some point in the future he will line up against Wycombe – at which point we definitely won’t forget the massive favour he did for us on the final day of the 2013/14 campaign.”
