Adams’ future at Vale Park is still unclear
Micky Adams has refused to comment on contract negotiations to extend his stay at the club and has even hinted that this season could even be his last at the club.
I want to make sure this club, if this is my last season, is in the right state and is in a better shape then when I first joined it…
Adams told the press that it wasn’t the right time to talk about his contract (which expires at the end of the season) but he did hint that there is a possibility that this season could be his last at Vale Park saying: “I want to make sure this club, if this is my last season, is in the right state and is in a better shape then when I first joined it.”
However, despite the “my last season” remark, it appears that contract negotiations are still ongoing with Adams commenting “they have not concluded yet.”
Here is the Micky Adams transcript from the pre-match press conference:
“My contract negotiations are not important. I have a family to look after, but I look after my family if I am successful at this club.
“That’s all I want to do. I want to make sure this club, if this is my last season, is in the right state and is in a better shape then when I first joined it four or five years ago.
“My focus is just about ensuring we work as hard as we possibly can from my side of things and making sure the things I can affect run as efficiently and smoothly as they possibly can do.
My contract runs until the end of the season. That’s seven or eight months. That’s all I am focusing on, this next seven or eight months…

“I don’t think it’s necessarily a question that I want to answer at this time.
“My contract negotiations started last April with Paul Wildes and they have not concluded yet.
“There have been lots of scenarios at this club since I have been here, administration, no money, whatever you want to call it. But it has never affected the way I have done the job.
“I have always, whatever is thrown at me, to do the job to the best of my ability.”
