Former Vale keeper retires
Former Vale keeper Stuart Tomlinson has sadly been forced to retire through injury at the age of 28.
A summer scan revealed a knee problem which was so severe that any further injury could result in long-term damage.
After a trial during the previous season, Tomlinson joined the Vale in 2010 and battled Chris Martin for the number one shirt.
Tomlinson’s early form was such that he was linked with moves to QPR and Sheffield United.
However, his form was somewhat more shaky in 2011-12 season and after 81 appearances, he left the club and joined Burton Albion where he made 28 appearances for Albion.
Off the field, Tomlinson has also hit the headlines. It was Tomlinson’s tweet that made the Vale fans aware of the infamous Jim Gannon “busgate” incident while Tomlinson also works as a male model and fitness trainer.
