Cup curse? Vale have failed to win the last ten Sunday FA Cup ties

OVF research shows that Port Vale’s FA Cup record on Sundays is appalling – with the club last winning a game twenty eight years ago.

Over that time, Vale have played TEN FA Cup games on a Sunday and have yet to win a single one.

The stat will worry fans ahead of this weekend’s second round game – which is due to take place on a Sunday. Supporters will be hoping that awful run will end against Hartlepool United.

The Valiants last won on a Sunday in January 1988 when Kevin Finney’s header beat Macclesfield Town (and probably kept manager John Rudge in a job). Here is a list of the Sunday FA Cup games since then…
