Any chance of a quiet end to the season?
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but in my 31 years of supporting Port Vale, I cannot recall such a rollercoaster season.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but in my 31 years of supporting Port Vale, I cannot recall such a rollercoaster season. Moving off-pitch issues to one side for a moment (I’d be here all night if I had to include those), let’s just take a look at what has happened on the playing side this campaign:
• Three managers
• The shortest managerial reign on record
• Players “storming” the boardroom to complain about Gannon
• The huge embarrassment called “Busgate”
• The Exodus racism claims (sadly)
• The whole Accrington post-match craziness
• The plummet from promotion spot to being out of the play-offs
• And now… the Stafford nightclub incident
At this point I was going to include a rollercoaster-based quote to illustrate what a crazy season it has been. But I’ve just looked up the lyrics to the Ronan Keating hit “Life is a Rollercoaster” (I had to Google the lyrics as, let’s be frank, it’s not a favourite on the OVF Towers’ turntable) and most of the song seems to consist of the lyrics “Na, na, na, na, na… we found love, oh,” so it’s not particularly useful… therefore, erm, I decided to scrub the amusing rollercoaster quote bit.
Anyway, in lieu of any insightful quote, can I just say this to the Vale players…
By all means, go all out for a play-off place.
But if you possibly manage to do it without a bus bust-up, a nightclub punch-up or any other sort of controversy, then this Vale fan would really appreciate it. Thanks!
