Thomas Fern (also known as Tom Fern) was an experienced goalkeeper who joined Port Vale FC for a three year spell between 1924 and 1927. He made ninety appearances for the Valiants during his stay with the club. Fern also had previous spells with Worksop Town, Lincoln City and Everton (with whom he won the League title in the 1914-15 season). On leaving Port Vale he joined Colwyn Bay where he finished his playing career.
