Manager John Askey has praised Callum Evans’ full debut after confirming that Manny Oyeleke is still ruled out through injury.
Oyeleke is a key player for the Valiants if fit but his spell at Vale Park has been hit by a succession of injuries.
Askey told the media: “Manny isn’t far away it is just he is feeling his hamstring still, so hopefully in another week he will be fine.”
In Oyeleke’s absence, versatile signing Callum Evans was played in midfield. The former Macclesfield Town man earned praise from Askey and could now be a contender to fill in for the injured Oyeleke.
Askey commented: “Callum showed what he can do. He has pace, he can play full back or centre mid and he has loads of ability. He just needs a bit more belief in himself but I thought he was one of our best players.”
