Numerous chances – John Askey delighted with Port Vale performance against FGR

Port Vale manager John Askey said the team put on an “excellent performance” as they defeated Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening.

Vale won 2-1 thanks to goals from Richie Bennett and David Amoo but the tally could have been more as Vale created a number of decent chances throughout the game.

A lot of chances created, a lot of crosses went in and they worked really hard again, so I think they got what they deserved….

Askey told the official Port Vale website: “It was an excellent performance, I thought the players, especially first-half, played as good football as you could expect from them.

“A lot of chances created, a lot of crosses went in and they worked really hard again, so I think they got what they deserved.

“We had numerous chances through good play and if we keep doing that, we’ll be OK.”
