Former Port Vale midfielder Grant Ward is on trial with League Two rivals Northampton Town.
Ward did not have much of an impact at Vale Park since arriving at the club in February. He was one of a number of free agents brought in by manager Jon Brady as he attempted to address the club’s poor form.
The 31 year-old made just three starts and five sub appearances in the second-half of the season before being released.
Ward played for Town in a friendly game and manager Chris Hogg told the local media: “There are discussions to be had. We’ll have discussions on the back of today and then give them a plan moving forward.”
