Rumours are circulating on social media that Port Vale manager Jon Brady could be set to sign former Northampton Town goalkeeper Lee Burge.
A reminder on our Port Vale rumours features. These stories have been reported elsewhere on the web and are not started by OVF nor necessarily believed by us. We have published themselves because we think they are of interest but readers should remember that the vast majority of rumours never come to fruition – so treat these claims with caution!
Brady signed Burge for Northampton back in 2022 and will have extensive knowledge of the veteran goalkeeper. Burge, 33, parted ways with Northampton Town in the summer despite being offered a new deal. Current Town manager Chris Hogg said that “we have decided to go in a different direction in the goalkeeping position and so we have parted company with Lee.”
Burge is therefore looking for a new club. He has extensive experience having made over 350 appearances and appearing for the likes of Coventry City, Sunderland and Northampton. The Valiants are also in the market for a new goalkeeper. The only professional on the books, Marko Marosi, is transfer listed with loanee Joe Gauci having returned to Aston Villa and veteran Ben Amos released.
