Port Vale manager Darren Moore says the club are not pursuing striker Devante Cole despite online rumours linking the forward with the Valiants.
Moore was talking to the local media ahead of the opening game against Rotherham United.
Highlights of the press conference
His mood ahead of the new season
I am excited for the start of the new season. For many reasons, to showcase the hard work we put in last season and it’s something we’ve worked incredibly hard to achieve.
On returning to League One
There’s moments that it feels that way. We feel that getting back to League was laying the base layer really. We need to embrace League One, learn quickly. We’ve got to stay together, be together and making sure we approach every game in the right manner. It’s about consistency. You’ve got to rise to the level you’re at.
On injuries
We really feel pleased that… Ben Garrity and Jordan Gabriel are back on the pitch with us. The only decision with them is volume. Ben Amos is in with the medical team and continued his progress to full fitness.
On trialist goalkeeper Billy Crellin
We felt it was an area we needed to look at. Billy’s done well. He’s been in for a couple of weeks and he deserved a full ninety minutes. Nothing’s been concrete but there’s discussions to be had.
Loan moves
That is a possibility. The loan market is one that you can utilise.
The Devante Cole rumour
Listen, I can’t stop all the speculation. Great to be linked with such a wonderful player. Is there anything in it? No. It’s nice to be linked with such a wonderful player but at this moment in time that’s all it is…

Cole in the hole , a dream , but then where does he fit in with the others .
Could be s good signing but we now have strikers who we hope can do the job this season. We seem to be in good order all over the pitch so let’s go to the new season with what we have.
