Tom Pett, who captained the Valiants to play-off final victory against Mansfield Town in 2022, has agreed a permanent switch to Oldham Athletic.
It means the popular midfielder will return to League Two football.
Pett enjoyed a highly successful loan spell with Oldham from Cheltenham Town. The midfielder was a regular pick as Oldham secured promotion back to the Football League. The 33 year-old has agreed a two year deal with the Latics.
Former Valiants Tom Conlon, Kian Harratt and Harry Charsley are also in the current Oldham squad.
Pett played 83 times for Vale between 2021 and 2023 scoring three times. His promotion with Oldham last season is the third of his career.
