Vale fans attend promotion party at Vale Park
There was a party atmosphere at Vale Park in Burslem on Saturday, as crowds turned out to see the promotion trophy.
Manager Darren Moore thanked the fans “I wanted to say thank you to each of you personally. Everyone played their part this season. Thank you for your outstanding support this season.”
Valiants honoured with civic reception
Meanwhile the squad was given a civic reception by the lord mayor of Stoke-on-Trent where the team were presented with a special commemorative plate commissioned by Moorland Pottery in recognition of the promotion. This can be seen at the top of this article.
Chair Carol Shanahan said: “It’s really quite overwhelming. I feel as excited about the future. I don’t feel like we’ve achieved what we want to achieve. I’m really looking forward to next season.”
Former Valiants released
As more clubs release their retained list, the fate of some former Valiants has been revealed. Goalkeeper Jack Stevens, who had a loan spell with the Valiants has been released by Cambridge United. Former Vale forward Gavin Massey has also been released by National League side AFC Fylde.
Robinson named as player of the season
Finally, another former Valiant, defender Sammy Robinson has been named as Hereford’s player of the season. Robinson joined the Bulls at the start of the season.
