We take a look back to the summer and the whereabouts of the seven trialists who played for Port Vale over the summer…

Deklan Wynne
The left wingback had an odd Vale career. He joined late on last season but never made an appearance during a short-term contract. He then rejoined the club on trial over the summer but despite a couple of appearances in friendlies, he failed to agree a deal as the Valiants opted for Sam Hart and Kyle John instead. At time of writing the New Zealand International is still without a club.
Kyle John
Wynne’s loss was definitely John’s gain. The former Evertonian impressed during summer and earned a one year deal with the club. John had never played League football before but impressed everyone with his talent, attitude and versatility. He’s currently injured but is surely in line for an extended contract after a great start to his Vale career.
David Adewoju
The 20 year-old tall central defender was released by Huddersfield Town in the summer. He started a handful of games over the summer but failed to earn a deal. So far, the youngster’s experience has been a couple of loan spells with Bradford PA and Farsley Celtic and he is another player currently without a club.

Diamond Edwards
The second trialist to agree a permanent deal with the club, Edwards looks a potential matchwinner although his first-team spell has been limited to just three appearances as the club build up his match fitness. He impressed everyone with a stunning goal on his senior debut for the Valiants – in a win over Salford City in the Football League Trophy.
Sadat Anaku
The former Dundee forward featured for Vale in a handful of friendly games but didn’t earn a contract. He’s then made quite the move, leaving Burslem to earn a deal in his native Uganda. He now plays for the intriguing named Kampala Capital City Authority, the club where Anaku started his career.
Matthew Warbrick
The second New Zealand player to trial for the club, Warbrick was another to not earn a deal. He’s had spells in US football in the past and it’s not been possible to find out if he’s found another club or not. Perhaps you can help and post a comment at the bottom of the article if you know better…
Christian Scott
The Londoner had been playing for youth teams in Portugal when he joined the Valiants on trial. He failed to earn a deal with Vale but he subsequently went on trial with Wealdstone where he did earn a contract. So far this season, he’s made ten appearances for the National League team.
This is a test
Great start to the season, and some real talented players in the greater squad. My concern as a fan and spectator is that Vale will struggle to keep in the top five places unless at least seven players are named on the team sheet regularly . If Darren doesn’t know his best team ,then unfortunately, we will struggle even with the lower clubs. Substitute defenders/attackers if and when needed. Our talented players don’t know who they are teamed up with, therefore, we have eleven talented individuals, not a talented team.
I am sure the manager will sort this out ,just hope it is before the Christmas fixtures. L Brown N Wales
