All in all, if the team can win at least 3 of these games and draw 1 or 2, they should hold onto a good lead entering 2025. Being excited about the financial income that is tied to the competition makes sense for a League Two manager, as he says, “With the competition, it’s not outwardly looked upon as a glamorous competition but for us as a football club it gives us financial gain.” He continued, adding, “The further you progress in it, it can help the club with stability and financial rewards.”
Moore has experience at the old and new Wembley stadiums and is excited about taking this Port Vale team to the national stadium of the whole country. “Also, it’s an opportunity for clubs in the bottom two tiers to get to Wembley,” which is the ultimate goal for any English club, and footballer. “I’ve been fortunate enough to grace the old Wembley and the new Wembley and it’s a fantastic arena and an opportunity for any connecting supporters.”
Still, Moore is cautious as he knows how little things can take away such a chance. “There’s a long way to go in it, but if you want to succeed you have to start from somewhere.” Wining 9 of the 15 games they have played so far in the league, apart from their good performances in the trophy games. The team now gets ready to be handed an away tie in the round of 32, which starts on December 9th.
In other, less exciting and enthusiastic news, the club expressed their disappointment and anger towards abusive fans. An individual has been ejected from the stands during the Wrexham AFC match in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy due to homophobic abuse. The club have a zero-tolerance policy on abuse of any kind, as a serious team should, and Vale Park is not exempt from enforcing strict rules and punishments to those who oppose it. Their statement read “Those found to have displayed abusive behavior have no place at Port Vale and will – without exception – receive an indefinite ban from attending future matches.” The statement continues,” We are proud to be a welcoming, community hub, where everyone should and can belong.”
At the Service of Remembrance in Stoke, Chief Executive Officer Matt Hancock represented Port Vale Football Club. the service was led by Reverend Geoff Eze as Civic Dignitaries, Veterans, and members of the Armed Forces were in attendance.
