Port Vale manager Darren Moore says he will continue to assess the trialists at the club after a number appeared in a behind closed doors friendly match yesterday.
The Valiants took on a PFA XI of out of contract players which featured the likes of Dwight Gayle. The Port Vale side contained Tom Sang, Ben Amos and a number of trialists, including Kyle John, David Adewoju and Sadat Anaku, who all featured against Bath City, plus some new faces.
Moore told the media: “We added one or two trialists and they did well. They still have some time yet and another game to perform in (before we make a decision). They did really well.”
A tweet from the PFA showed the line-up for the game:

One trialist who could come into the reckoning is former Everton defender Kyle John (pictured above). The 23 year-old can play in both full-back positions and this may be useful considering Vale’s lack of options in those areas. On Tuesday, youngster Ben Lomax played at right-back and did well, but in the absence of the injured Mitch Clark this position will still be of concern. Similarly, although first-choice Sam Hart played at left-back on Tuesday, the only other option is youngster Jack Shorrock, as both Conor Grant and Dan Jones were injured. Bringing in a player who can cover both positions could be a wise move.

A good idea for Vale to assess out of contract players and the PFA to utilise. As some players seem to manage to find new clubs and great for the players union to be part of a good idea.
