Scottish club St Johnstone have officially confirmed the signing of Port Vale striker Uche Ikpeazu on a two-year contract.
The striker has agreed a two-year deal following the expiration of his current Valiants contract. The Scottish club are managed by Craig Levein who had Ikpeazu in his squad when he managed Hearts. The striker was a success for the club, scoring ten times in 55 games for the Scottish Premier side.
The striker told the St Johnstone official website: “I’m excited. I can focus on this new journey and challenge back here in Scotland. I’m looking forward to imposing myself on the league. The supporters might know me from my time in the Scottish Premiership before. I’m a more mature player now and want to exceed my own expectations.
“It was a no-brainer for me. I have worked with the gaffer before and I’m ready to help the team. I want to show my quality and talent. Having a full pre-season is going to be very important. That is massive for me because, the last couple of years, I haven’t had that. I’m hungry, determined, focused and can’t wait to see everyone at McDiarmid Park. I know where I’m at and I can really get the head down and build forward.”
Ikpeazu had divided opinion amongst fans since joining the Valiants for a second time in his career. Some have praised Ikpeazu for his power which some League One defences have struggled with but others will point to a scoring record of just one goal in 26 games.
The striker agreed to join the Valiants in October for a second spell following a period on loan back in 2015. His complete record for the club stands at 52 appearances and seven goals.
