Rory Holden player profile
Former Walsall midfielder Rory Holden was signed on a permanent basic by Port Vale after spending a portion of the summer of 2022 training with the club. Holden had played under manager Darrell Clarke while both were at Walsall.
The Northern Ireland U21 International started his career at Derry City before moving to Bristol City in 2017. He later joined Walsall in 2020 before sustaining a serious injury in 2020 which saw him miss the whole season.
Speaking about his latest recruit, Darrell Clarke said: “I know all about Rory’s qualities, what and he’s like as a lad and a player, in fact he was one of my best players at Walsall, he has put a lot of work and effort into his game that has made him a top player. Recently he has had an awful time with injuries and we’ve done a thorough medical and he’s gone through an unbelivable training reigime to get him where I think he needs to be.”
He made his debut coming on as a sub on the opening day of the 2022-23 season – a 2-1 win over Fleetwood Town. However, he failed to nail down a regular place in the side and was released at the end of the campaign.
