Randy Samuel player profile:
Randy Samuel was an experienced Canadian International central defender signed initially on trial by Port Vale manager John Rudge in November 1995.
He agreed a short-term contract and scored on his debut against Watford. However, after just nine more appearances for the club he was released at the end of the 1995-96 season.
Away from the Valiants, Samuel made 82 appearances for his country including three appearances in the 1986 World Cup finals. He briefly held the appearance record for his county and was also inducted into the National Hall of Fame.
The defender also played for Vancouver Whitecaps in the USA, PSV Eindhoven (winning the first division title twice), Fortuna Sittard and FC Volendam in the Netherlands and a number of clubs in his native Canada. He also had a spell as a club manager in Canada in charge of Lobbans FC.
