Paul Kerr was a prolific midfielder signed by John Ruidge’s Port Vale from Millwall for £140,000 in the summer of 1992.
Kerr had begun his career at Aston Villa and had also had spells with Middlesbrough and Millwall before joining the Valiants.
Kerr’s first season at Vale Park was a memorable one as he scored fifteen goals including the first-ever Vale goal at Wembley stadium during the Autoglass Trophy final win over Stockport County.
He also played in the following season – the 1993-94 season – where he scored five goals as the Valiants earned promotion. However, Kerr finished the season on loan to Leicester City and he moved on to the Foxes in the summer of 1994.
He finished his playing career with a spell at Wycombe Wanderers.
