Andreas Lipa player profile
Andreas Lipa was a former Austrian International midfielder who was signed by Port Vale FC with some fanfare on a free transfer in the summer of 2003.
Lipa arrived at the club after a spell in Greek football and he initially impressed and scored his first Port Vale goal in a 3-1 win over Barnsley in September 2003.
However, Lipa was then involved in controversy after claims of racist comments by Lipa made to Plymouth Argyle player Jason Bent in October 2003. Lipa made an apology and claimed that the words were in the “heat of the moment.” Lipa was duly charged by the FA over the remarks.
The midfielder lost his place when manager Brian Horton was replaced by Martin Foyle and the veteran eventually departed the Valiants by mutual consent in November 2004.
