Match background
The defeat to Forest Green Rovers was desperately poor and Vale will be keen to make sure that was just a blip after their recent fine form. The Valiants will be keen not to drawn back into the relegation battlefield and the best way to prevent that is with a home win.
What will the Vale look like?
There has been a gradual shake-up of the Vale squad but despite that the starting line-up should not look too different. Tom Anderson (right) is expected to have recovered from his badly broken nose and take his place in defence while new signing Donovan Wilson will battle with Tyrone Barnett and Dior Angus to be Tom Pope’s striking partner.
Pre-match quote
“We are going to be playing a team on the up in terms of confidence. They have had two good wins in the cup and everybody will be desperate to play in the Manchester United game so they will get a knock on effect from that…”
