Sam Hornby has loan spell at Chester extended who also sign former Valiant Gary Roberts
Chester FC have confirmed that goalkeeper Sam Hornby has had his loan spell extended and will be joined by former Valiant Gary Roberts.
There was speculation that the Hornby loan would be ended by Chester due to their financial circumstance. However, Chester have announced in a statement:
Chester FC are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Sam Hornby has had his loan deal from Port Vale extended for a further month.
Sam has featured in all six Chester games following his arrival at the Swansway Chester Stadium.
The 22-year-old is in line to feature once again for the Blues tonight against Fylde.
The National League side have also announced the signing of former Vale midfielder Gary Roberts:
Chester FC can today confirm the signing of hometown midfielder Gary Roberts.
The 30-year-old from Blacon has signed a short-term deal at the Swansway Chester Stadium.
Gary came through the youth ranks at Crewe Alexandra and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Railwaymen – scoring 11 goals.
He went on to feature at clubs such as Yeovil, Rotherham and Port Vale in the Football League. Roberts also played for England at U-16, U-17 and U-19 levels; as well as being Captaining the England Under-18’s.
The Chester local began the season as Southport in the National League North – scoring four goals in 14 games.
