Rumour: Port Vale close in on Ben Whitfield loan extension
The Sentinel newspaper reports that Port Vale are close to agreeing a deal to keep Ben Whitfield on loan until the end of the season.
According to reports the Vale are also interested in signing the midfielder on a permanent basis and the continuation of the loan agreement could put the Valiants in prime position to sign the youngster in the summer.
Whitfield has been an outstanding success since joining on loan from Bournemouth and an extension of his deal would be a huge coup for Neil Aspin.
However, the Vale reportedly face competition from Lincoln City for the 21 year-old forward.
