Where are they now: Ben Williamson

Rob Fielding Former Valiants ben williamson

Has the former Vale forward finally found his level after a move to the National League?

Prior to Vale

Ben began his career at Millwall before joining the Glenn Hoddle Academy. After a spell with Bournemouth he joined Vale alongside Ryan Burge, another graduate of the Hoddle Academy.

His Vale spell

He made his debut for Vale in 2011 and scored his first goal for the club in a game against Shrewsbury. Consistently inconsistent, Williamson was eventually viewed as a “supersub” and made 91 appearances from the bench. After a four year stay with Vale he left in 2015 to join Gillingham.

Vale games: 169 Vale goals: 27

Post Vale

Williamson’s spell at Gillingham didn’t work out and he was loaned to Cambridge United where the deal was made permanent. After 71 games for Cambridge he was released in the summer and joined National League side Eastleigh. He has made a storming start to this season scoring seven times in just 13 games for his new club. Perhaps he has found his level?
