Michael Brown says Vale expect to make another signing on Monday
Michael Brown has told the media that he expects to make another signing for the club on Monday.
One of the trio of trialists who played against Buxton – Billy Whitehouse, Michael Tonge and Gavin Gunning – would seemingly be in pole position to earn a permanent deal but Brown may opt to bring a player yet to feature for the club.
However, the signing of Lawrie Wilson would appear to make it unlikely that Vale will offer a deal to fellow right-back Neil Eardley who also played against Buxton. Vale now have Wilson and youngster James Gibbons competing for the position while veteran Adam Yates could also provide competition as he returns from injury. It seems unlikely that Brown will add a fourth full-back to the mix.
Brown has added Tom Pope, Cristian Montano, Rob Lainton, Joe Davis, Graham Kelly, Anthony Kay, Sam Hornby, Tyrone Barnett plus loanee Rekeil Pyke to his squad this summer.
