Youngster Luke Dennis signs first pro contract with Port Vale
Port Vale have announced that former youth team player Luke Dennis has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The tall central defender has signed a one year deal. He joins fellow youngsters Joe Slinn, Mike Calveley and Charlie Walford in signing his first professional contract.
Dennis was an ununsed sub during last season’s Checkatrade Trophy game with Mansfield Town.
Last season he earned the praise of youth team coach Mick Ede who commented: “He is one of those quiet unassuming lads that goes unnoticed until they go on the pitch. He is a big lad but he has pace and that is one thing that really helps.
“Nowadays if central defenders have that little bit of pace, as well as their understanding of the game, then it does make them stand out a little bit more.
“He is playing very well for the youth team.”
