The day Port Vale paid tribute to the King
In 1952, Port Vale’s programme featured a front page tribute to the late King George VI.
On the 6th February 1952, King George VI passed away at the age of 56 and Queen Elizabeth became the monarch.
Vale’s next game following George’s death was the home game against Gillingham on the 9th February. Vale won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Dickie Cunliffe and the matchday programme featured this tribute:
