Milton Keynes fans: we’re doing much worse than expected
All three Milton Keynes fans are shocked at their poor form. Here are their thoughts ahead of the game with the Valiants…
Thanks to REP for posing the questions
About the fans…
BetterCallSaul – I was brought up a Chelsea fan and I used to go fairly often but when Wimbleon moved to Milton Keynes when I was eight I was taken to see them. I’ve been season ticket holders ever since.
Greg – I started following Milton Keynes around 2002. I didn’t support anyone before then. I’ve been to plenty of games, but interestingly never had a season ticket.
Scumarmy – I have contributed financially to Milton Keynes via tickets and merchandise since the age of ten.
About the opposition…
How are your team doing?
Our current form is inconsistent, but improving under Robbie Neilson…
BetterCallSaul – After our relegation I thought we’d be up the top and challenging (like Bolton) I didn’t think the club would be performing so badly. Robinson really got it wrong and so did the recruitment department. The way things currently are, especially with our squad size, if we bring no-one in I think relegation is a very real threat.
Greg – We’re still in a transition phase, and most likely won’t have a settled squad until the start of next season. The team picks itself at the moment due to the lack of experienced players. Our bench is made up of youngsters most games. Our current form is inconsistent, but improving under Robbie Neilson. Most people would have liked us to be challenging for promotion straight back up, but not many would have said relegation threatened. I’d settle for mid-table, with a good run of form at the end of the season to carry on to next season
Scumarmy – We are doing far worse than we should be for a club of our size. My prediction is we will finish in League One.
The players to watch?
BetterCallSaul – Chuks Aneke. He’s still getting back to fitness from a terrible injury but is a wonderful attacking player. Good on the ball and powerful.
Greg – Chuks Aneke is showing glimpses of what he is capable of now he’s regaining fitness. Ben Reeves can be very good no his day, if we haven’t sold him by then. Bowditch, if fit, is our top-scorer.
Scumarmy – Chuks Aneke seems alright.
Your thoughts on the manager?
BetterCallSaul – It’s too soon to really make a judgement. It would be harsh to blame him if we got relegated this season with the shambles of a squad he has been left to work with. I like what I’ve seen so far though.
Greg – I really like him. He has some stones to come from a pretty cushty job in Scotland all the way down (geographically and standard wise) to a bottom half League One side. But he sees the potential in the place.
Scumarmy – He’s Scottish and is better than Karl Robinson, regardless of how he does.
A score prediction and predicted away following?
BetterCallSaul – Don’t really think we’ll be up to much but hoping we can get a 1-0 win thanks to Chuks Aneke. As for our away attendance I predict it will be rubbish.
Greg – 2-0 to you lot, Forrester to get at least one goal if he plays. We’ll bring a few hundred, which is about par for us.
Scumarmy – 0-0. I expect us to take about 1,000 as usual but might be slightly less as our performance is poor this season.
