BBC Radio Stoke reports that Port Vale’s top scorer Alex Jones could be back in training by the end of this week.
Jones was injured in training ahead of the game against Oxford United and fans initially feared a long lay-off for the eight goal forward.
The news is yet to be officially confirmed by the club but an early return to fitness would be a massive boost for the Valiants.
Even if Jones returns to training this week he is unlikely to make the squad for the weekend clash against Bolton Wanderers. Rigino Cicilia, who scored his first Vale goal against Oxford, is expected to deputise.
