Vale keeper Sam Johnson has joined Gateshead on a season-long loan, the non league club has revealed.
Gateshead manager Neil Aspin had agreed the deal with Rob Page at the end of the season but the deal was put on hold when Page left for Northampton Town. In fact, Vale fans were unsure if Johnson had even agreed a Vale contract although clearly this is now the case.
The Gateshead official website have revealed the move has been concluded with Aspin commenting: “I didn’t expect there to be a problem, and it’s great that Johnson will be with us for the start of pre-season training.
“He is keen to do well and progress his career at Gateshead. His size and stature should make him a commanding figure in the box.”
