Statement on potential US takeover expected this week
Port Vale US bid: Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite is expected to make a statement on how talks with a US consortium progressed.
The Vale owner travelled to the United States for talks with an unnamed consortium who are interested in purchasing the club.
The Valiants have been put up for sale since late 2015 and the US group is believed to be the last interested party with Smurthwaite indicating that the club would be taken off the market if the talks are unsuccessful.
If Smurthwaite remains in charge of the club he has said he would appoint a CEO to oversee the day-to-day running of the club and there may be a decrease in the playing budget depending on how many season tickets are sold.
