Vale striker won’t be risked
Striker JJ Hooper is unlikely to play for Port Vale Reserves as manager Rob Page doesn’t want to risk any injuries ahead of the Exeter Cup clash.
Vale’s reserves are at home to Shrewsbury but any first-team squad members are unlikely to be picked. It means that likes of JJ Hooper, Chris Neal and Remie Streete will not be given match practice as they will be part of the squad to travel to Exeter.
Hooper has been in fine form for the reserves this season but Rob Page feels he cannot take the risk telling the Sentinel: “We have to weigh it up because we can’t take any more chances. We have a big game on Sunday and I can’t take a chance with any more injuries.
“We have worked the lads that need it really hard and we will do the same up until Saturday. But I need everybody fighting fit and raring to go.
“I want them for Sunday not for a reserve game on a Wednesday.”
